Conservation of water resources, principled extraction of groundwater, optimal use of extracted water, and recovery of used water are among the most important strategies for the care and optimal use of water resources in areas with low water levels during drought periods. These strategies are not far from the perspective of the Mashhad Water Waves Sports Complex before entering the drought period and during the high water period, and from the beginning of its activity, regardless of the high reserves of water resources, it has made compliance with global standards its policy.
One of the most popular water sports is swimming pools and sports complexes of this kind. To find out how water is consumed in these complexes, we went to Mr. Morteza Abdollahi, Managing Director of the Mashhad Water Waves Sports Complex, the largest water sports center in the country, to see up close how much planning has been done to conserve water in these complexes and how this natural resource is protected.
In this regard, Morteza Abdullahi stated: The Mashhad Water Waves Sports Complex was created with the aim of creating a happy and vibrant environment for rest and relaxation alongside sports and entertainment. This goal, along with strengthening mental health and social interaction, prompted us to prioritize the preservation of national interests and one of the most precious assets of this land, which is water, above all else, and to use the best and most modern equipment in the world to preserve it.
He stated: The policies of the Mashhad Water Waves Sports Complex have been such that each year we have been more successful in water efficiency and saving water resources than the previous year. Regardless of the major issues raised on the issue of water, in the Mashhad Water Waves Sports Complex, “water” is one of the most valuable elements that is the main basis for the creation and activity of this complex; First, because the site of the complex’s activities is located in an arid and semi-arid climate with rainfall, and second, because the price of water extracted from the ground is very high due to the various processes that are applied to it from the initial stage of extraction to use in the complex’s games, and we refer to it as one of the complex’s hidden assets.
The CEO of the Mashhad Water Waves Sports Complex emphasized: Increasing water temperature, maintaining water temperature, chlorination, chlorine price, maintaining water turbidity based on the latest standard rules have caused the price of water consumed per liter in Mashhad Water Waves to be defined as very expensive.
He noted: Using modern methods and equipment from the world and complete management, the amount of water consumption, considering the aforementioned items and the savings made in the summer, is 10 liters per second and for 14 hours a day, and the same amount is reduced to 10 hours a day in other months of the year. This amount of water consumption over a year is equivalent to the water consumption of a small 55-hectare tomato farm.
Therefore, it can be said that approximately 80 percent of the water extracted from the well is returned to the system and only 20 percent of it is not usable and has entered the absorption wells as sediment, which can be effective in restoring the complex’s water well.
